GD 1: An introductory course which involves gaining familiarity with the fundamental components of design while developing your visual communication skills. Instructions and demonstrations will be given on the design process as well as how to use the software Adobe Illustrator. You'll be completing several hands-on projects to show your understanding of the material covered. Examples of projects include: posters, t-shirt slogans, character building, book cover layout and more. 

GD 2An intermediate course where you will continue to create solutions to various design problems. A more complex study of typography, layout, photo manipulation, and technical skill will be explored. In addition to Adobe Illustrator you will also learn how to use Adobe Photoshop. Examples of projects include digital portraits, logos, icons, branding, digital collage, movie or portfolio posters and more.

GD 3: For the self-motivated student, this course is an advanced exploration of designing with intention using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. In addition to creating several designs, you will also take part in group critiques which will help you develop your collaboration, observation and interpretation skills. You will be expected to investigate new information, trends and techniques to create more complex, functional and interesting designs. Examples of projects include: client based project, infographics, event poster, t-shirt , button or tote design, magazine cover and more. 

GD 4: For the passionate design student, this course continues the investigation of the visual and conceptual factors that play a role in creation and communication. You will be expected to research areas that will enhance four or more individually designed projects, based on your interest of study. Emphasis will be placed on how you consider and incorporate information from critiques. Your work will be part of the annual art fest as well as other possible exhibits which will showcase your new work as well as some of your top pieces from previous design classes.
