downloading fonts

FREE FONT SITES: Google “free fonts” or try some of the links below.

http://www.dafont.com/

http://www.chank.com/freefonts.php

http://www.urbanfonts.com/free-fonts.htm

http://www.1001fonts.com/free-fonts-for-commercial-use.html

If you come across other good sites - e-mail me tassonema@beaverton.k12.or.us and I will add them to this list!

STEPS:
1. Go to a free font site, find the font you like and press download  (usually on the far right)

2. A pop up window may appear that says "you have chosen to" (choose) open with archive utility - hit OK

3. Your font will Download into your Download folder (click on your MacHD icon on your desktop) then look for Download folder on the left (see the sample on the left)

4. If your zip file does not uncompress - double click the zip file. Look inside the font name folder and double click the ttf or otf

4. On the new pop up screen hit the install font button. DONE! your font should automatically be added to your Illustrator and Photoshop list of fonts.

Special Note: When you download fonts they only live on the computer that you have downloaded them to... if you use the print station computer or a different computer during AT you will need to do one of the following:
1. re-download your fonts
2. outline your fonts from your original file (be careful with this one, it will not be editable once you outline it - save it as a different file name just in case)
3. save as a pdf so your fonts show up correctly on different computers (saving as pdf is more for just viewing or printing, not editing)
